Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Josh Southern and I'm a Graphic Designer living in Raleigh, North Carolina.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design in May 2001 from North Carolina State University. Since graduating, I have worked as a Freelance Graphic Desinger, working in both in print and web media. I am currently available for hire and always willing to entertain offers of full-time employment.

Besides design, my other principal interest is birding. I am the writer/editor of the "Briefs for the Files," a section of The Chat, the quarterly ornithological journal of the Carolinas, as well as a member of the Carolina Bird Club and the American Birding Association. I've named this website after one of my favorite groups of birds, the Myiarchus genus of Tyrant Flycatchers. In North Carolina, the Great-crested Flycatcher (Myiarchus crinitus) is a conspicuous breeding resident.

Thanks for visiting!
I've uploaded some new videos to my "Video" page - White-tailed Deer, Black-billed Cuckoo, Least Flycatcher, Orchard Oriole, Fox Squirrel, and Pelagic Trip.

I'm planning on attending the Fall 2009 Carolina Bird Club Meeting in Hickory, NC, on the weekend of September 25th - 27th. More information can be found Here.

I've changed the website again. I've removed the woodgrain motif and the "Birding Blog" page (since I wasn't updating it) and added a new "Lists" page.
